TAPAJ in ancronymous french for Alternative Paid Work by the day
TAPAJ is an innovative program supported by the French government, enabling young people aged 16 to 25 in precarious situations to regain control of their life trajectory and prevent their addictive behavior through medical-psycho-social support and a same-day job that doesn’t require any particular qualifications or skills, and doesn’t commit them immediately over the long term.
UNDERSTAND
WHAT IS TAPAJ?
The TAPAJ program is a gradual response designed in successive stages
3 phases with an increase of working hours and level of support.
1st stage
Establishing contact
Immediate activation via street educators, the care center, or directly by phone, to work the next day on a 4-hour mission, paid cash the same day..
2nd stage
Care and support
Discussion of the entire situation with care center professionals.
Draw up support proposals with the TAPAJeur.euse for administrative, health, social, housing, and legal matters, prioritizing the urgent needs expressed by him/her.
Extension of the work contract: an average of three working days, with payment at the end of the week.
3rd stage
Supporting
An increase in worked time (more frequently in a week, for example), with some experimentation of independent missions or taking on responsibility within TAPAJ.
Specific support is provided via the entire network of partners for professional integration projects (training courses leading to qualifications, transitional job projects, common law contracts, etc.), care pathways, housing searches, or any other singular project contributing to the choice of shift in the TAPAJeur/euse’s life trajectory.
Community of 376 TAPAJ partners
public and private
offering work platforms.

Ensuring the Safety of Our TAPAJ Participants
10% of workers under 25 suffer work-related injuries each year. This rate is 2.5 times higher than that of the rest of the workforce, highlighting a crucial reality: young people are more vulnerable to workplace accidents. TAPAJ is committed to ensuring their safety.
